It begins with a historical analysis of the plant [protection regime and discusses its position alongside the WTO’s requirement of plant protection, Agreement on Agriculture and the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures. In discussing the role of global agricultural issues, especially in relation to trade and intellectual property rights, this chapters ties in issues of sustainability which is a long term goal for the trade regime.
